About This Event

What makes a textile material resilient, and resilient for whom? This free panel at Portland State University School of Art + Design brings together founders and materials designers to look at performance, durability, environmental impact, circularity, and how material research turns into products that can scale. Panelists are Mac Bishop, founder of Wool&Prince and wool&, whose work centers on merino wool; Shay Carrillo, founder and chief creative officer of MADRE Linen, working on domestic linen and supply chains; and Karen Lee, Senior Manager of Materials Design at Arcteryx and adjunct faculty at the University of Oregon. Kimiko Matsuda moderates the discussion, which is followed by audience Q and A. The panel is part of PTXM 2026: Layers of Resilience and connects to the Functional Fabric Fair. The event is free to attend but registration is required.
