About This Event

Terry Smith leads this virtual lunch and learn on why intentional company culture is strategic work for bioscience founders rather than something to defer until after the next milestone. Defining culture plainly as "how things get done around here," the session covers practical approaches to establishing an operating culture before a company scales, the long-term business value of being deliberate about it, the consequences of neglecting it, and real-world examples backed by data showing what successful cultures actually look like in practice. Terry Smith is founder and CEO of STS Design LLC, an HR consulting firm, with more than 30 years in human resources and change management at companies including Hitachi, Google, and Genentech as well as numerous startups and nonprofits. He holds certifications from Korn Ferry and other leadership organizations and serves as an adjunct professor at Portland State University. Hosted online via Zoom by the Oregon Bioscience Incubator.
