Applied Scientist, Automated Reasoning

Join the AWS Automated Reasoning group to design and implement algorithms and formal methods that verify the correctness and security of software and systems at scale. The role is offered in Portland, OR among other US locations.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and implement algorithms and formal methods for automated reasoning, including constraint solving, model checking, static analysis and theorem proving
• Solve large or significantly complex problems that require deep knowledge and scientific innovation
• Develop new decision procedures, heuristics, and search strategies that improve scalability and accuracy
• Explore and apply generative AI and machine learning techniques to enhance automated reasoning capabilities
• Develop automated reasoning techniques for generative AI and agentic coding systems
• Conduct original research and publish findings in peer-reviewed venues
• Work with customer teams to understand software and identify verification needs
• Provide cross-organizational technical influence and mentor other scientists and engineers
