Airbnb's Guest & Host Technology team owns the identity and privacy layer that determines who can see what about whom. This backend role covers relationship-scoped authorization, large-scale migrations away from legacy identity patterns, and privacy controls for features like trip sharing and profile visibility, making privacy primitives safe and easy for dependent teams to use.

Qualifications

6+ years of backend engineering with SOA, API design, and data modeling
Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin in microservices environments
Experience designing systems where correctness and authorization are core concerns
