Full job description
nLIGHT, a leading manufacturer of high-power semiconductor and fiber lasers, is hiring a Manufacturing Specialist for its Hillsboro, Oregon facility (swing shift, Mon–Fri 2:00 PM–10:30 PM). No prior experience required — training is provided.
Responsibilities:
- Learn and perform electromechanical assembly operations using manual and electronic tools
- Work in a cleanroom environment wearing cleanroom garments; may include microscope use and handling solvents
- Enter production data into a computer system
- Follow documented work instructions and quality and safety standards
- Report nonconforming irregularities and check equipment for normal operation
- Perform basic troubleshooting as needed
Pay: starting hourly rates by level — Specialist I $19.20, II $20.35, III $21.57, plus 10% shift differential for hours between 5:30 PM and 12:00 AM.
Qualifications
- Electronic assembly experience preferred but not required
- Soldering or wire bonding experience a plus
Requirements
- Ability to work in a team-oriented production environment
- Basic computer skills for data entry
- Basic problem-solving ability
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and follow English written and verbal instructions
- Basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication)
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Able to sit, stand, or walk for an 8-hour shift and lift up to 35 pounds
