Full job description

Hybrid role based from any Agility office (Fremont CA, Salem OR, or Pittsburgh PA).

Develop and deploy next-generation foundation models and policies for humanoid robots, and set the technical bar for the AI research team.

What you will do:

  • Establish team standards for research execution, experiment tracking, and model benchmarking
  • Mentor junior AI research engineers through project design and technical problem-solving
  • Design, train, and deploy robust policies for locomotion, manipulation, and environmental interactions
  • Build reinforcement learning infrastructure, including scalable training pipelines
  • Create simulation environments and tasks to support control policy training
  • Develop and test imitation learning methods for real-world robot tasks
  • Collaborate with software and engineering teams to transfer policies to production
  • Drive alignment between AI Research and Robotics teams on methods and deployment readiness

Qualifications

  • PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, or related field
  • Publications in top ML/robotics conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, CoRL, RSS, ICRA)
  • Experience with robot simulation (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim) and sim-to-real transfer
  • Knowledge of modern RL techniques for locomotion, manipulation, and whole-body control
  • Familiarity with DiffusionPolicy and other learning-from-demonstration tools
  • Robot data collection, training, and hardware testing experience for manipulation
  • High-quality C++ software development experience

Requirements

  • 7+ years total experience in software engineering and/or AI/robotics
  • 3+ years hands-on experience deploying learning-from-demonstration, reinforcement learning, or imitation learning systems in robotics
  • Proven mentorship ability with track record of developing junior engineers
  • Experience leading complex technical initiatives from research through deployment
  • Strong Python programming with deep learning framework proficiency (PyTorch)
  • MS in Robotics, Computer Science, or related field
