Full job description
Amazon Web Services is hiring a leader for its Data Center Clusters and Colocation Operations in Umatilla, Oregon, overseeing safety, security, availability, scaling, efficiency, and cost. The role manages two core functions: Data Center Operations (DCO) supporting compute platforms, and Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) handling mechanical/electrical systems. Note: position requires U.S. citizenship for logical access to the AWS GovCloud region.
Responsibilities:
- Hire, manage, and develop operations teams including managers and direct reports
- Achieve performance goals for safety, security, availability, scaling, efficiency, and cost
- Plan and execute infrastructure operations for new data centers and expansions
- Maintain mechanical, electrical, and controls systems via preventive/corrective maintenance
- Manage colocation service providers to meet contracted SLAs
- Lead incident response and resolution
- Continuously improve operational processes, procedures, and tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field
- 10+ years of relevant management experience in data center operations, facility engineering, or critical environment facilities
- Experience hiring, developing, and managing high-performing technical teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Preferred: knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructure
- Preferred: lean process improvement / six sigma experience
